ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis is a proven treatment tool in therapy for people with behavior-language-and social impairments including those with autism. ABA systematically approaches learning as a behavior and includes task analysis and data driven programming to guide instruction and learning.  The SLC approach to ABA incorporates four areas as seen in our Teaching Paradigm.  We believe the meaningful collaboration and programming between the Speech Language Pathologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst is required to address the underlying and surface challenges of people with communication and behavior challenges.

4. Supervision to existing ABA programs. 

SLC recommends a minimum of a 20 hour per week program.

  • For children 0-3 years old: Home based ABA program with SLC therapists and program supervision.
  • For children ages 3-5: Home based ABA program 20 hour program and customized schedule for preschool integration with shadow. Additionally, develop leisure and group participation skills.
  • For elementary school students ages 6-12: Home based ABA program 20 hours per week and SLC shadow to support generalization and learning in the school environment. Continued expansion of leisure, group participation. Literacy development is an added component to increase independence and participation in a literal world.
  • For middle and high school students: Home and community based program 20 hours per week and SLC shadow for vocational and social development. Literacy development is an added component to increase independence and participation in a literal world and integrated in the vocational exploration, development and training. 

*The need for assistive technology is evaluated for each client on an individual basis
